The Sustainable Human Development Program (SHDP) through its Managing Director, Professor Alan S. Cajes, took part on the “Development of the Evaluation Tools for the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)” of the Department of Health last September 29-30, 2016 Atrium Hotel, Pasay City as the workshop facilitator.

In compliance to AO no. 2016-002 or ” National Policy on Infection Prevention and Control in Healthcare Facilities, the HFDB (Health Facility Development Bureau) took this initiative to organize a two day workshop which aims to develop an evaluation tool based on the national standard.

The two day workshop started with the presentation of the current status report of the IPCs for selected DOH hospitals such as San Lorenzo Ruiz Women’s Hospital, Valenzuela Medical Center, East Avenue Medical Center, Jose Reyes Medical Center, San Lazaro Hospital, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, etc. Followed by a discussion  of the tool per standard as presented by the experts, Dr. Regina Berba and Dr. Arthur Dessi Roman.

Assistant Secretary Enrique Tayag graced the workshop with his presence and through his speech reiterated the need for an evaluation tool for the IPCs to ensure that we are preventing the transmission of the diseases on our healthcare facilities.
